[SOLVED] "Wifi panel" and "mouse and keyboard" not work

Hi, i'm new in the world of linux. I have an old pc and so I tried zorin lite 32 bit because its look is identical to that of XP.
Now i have 2 questions:
1- when i go on "preference"-->"keyboard and mouse" and try to set the speed more slow, this window closes unexpectedly. What can i do?
2- after logging in I get this window about the wifi:
Rete.jpg
Rete.jpg (42.76 KiB)

although I put the first option, that it would enable the automatic insertion of the password when I restart the notebook, the window continues to appear. Why?

Hi,

when the message pops up after a start, close it and go to the network icon on the taskbar, click on "Edit Connections" and then go to "Wireless" > (Highlight the connection you wish to edit) then "Edit", you must click on "Connect Automatically" and for "All Users", you will be asked for your password.

Regards Wolfman :D

Open a terminal and write

Code:
sudo dmesg -c

hit enter (give password if asked).

Do not close the terminal.

Then goto to preferences->keyboard and mouse and try to set the speed more slow so as the window to close unexpectidely.

Then go again to terminal and wirte

Code:
dmesg

and post here the results so as to see if we can trace what is wrong.

After the comand "dmesg" this is all:
Code:
[  144.994618] lxinput[1526]: segfault at 0 ip 00d82300 sp bf8bca20 error 4 in libX11.so.6.3.0[d4b000+116000]

I think that there must be something wrong with the drivers of your graphics card! (libx11 error)

Post the results of

Code:
lspci

to see what is your graphics card and also please advise if you are using the recomended driver of "additional drivers" (if any).

Ok.
De-activate the recomended driver.

With the recomended driver de-activated, do you have 3D effects from compiz? (cube, windows to break in pieces when closed etc?)

khammed

no i haven't any compiz option enabled

Ok try this.

As I said, de-activate the recomended driver from additional drivers.

Then go to start-up applications (system>preferences>startup applications) and +add a new entry.

Name: Compiz
Command:
Code:
compiz --replace

Comment: Compiz

Reboot and let me know if there was any improvement. Check also to see if after the reboot you have compiz effects.

I have disabled the "raccomanded driver", but I saw that haven't these files
system>preferences>startup applications
I see only an "autostart" in the preferences>session settings and I can't add a new entry.
This is all:

I forgot that you have the lite version of zorin... :|

You can try to run this command in terminal, and see if you get any improvement.
