Hi Folks

I am a total newbie to LINUX and have trouble with two things so far after doing a fresh install onto a freshly partitioned laptop.

1) My logitech M280 mouse wheel is not scrolling

2) In Software and Updates,

A message about Intel Wireless 8260 (Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260)
this device is not working
only choice is to use a manually installed driver
I select this it makes no difference.

HOWEVER my wireless is working fine. I am connected to the internet.

3) Connection Failed Activation of Network Connection Failed

I have this irritating above error message that just keeps popping up!!!

I had the same error on Linux mint today and installed Zorin instead because I read nly good things about it.

So I need a bit of help please.

I will post my specs in the next post as per the pinned sticky

If you are connecting ok to the internet but still getting messages you will need to install dconf-tools (dConf Editor) and follow the guide here:

My apologies for the late reply.

It appears that the issue network notifications issue might be the result of an error while loading the hardware drivers. In order to fix this issue, please try disabling Windows Secure Boot and Fast Boot options from your BIOS by following these steps:
1. Immediately upon start-up, press the indicated key repeatedly to open the BIOS settings. If you are unsure about which key to press, it is usually either Esc, Delete, F12 or another function key.
2. From the BIOS settings, please navigate to the "Boot" section and make sure that the "Fast Boot" and the Windows "Secure Boot" options are disabled.
3. Press the indicated key to Save the settings and exit the BIOS settings screen.
After rebooting the computer, the drivers should be loading correctly.

If this didn't fix the issue, please try opening the Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and entering this command to re-install the Network Manager software before rebooting your computer:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall network-manager

Thank you and just in time because I plan to format and reinstall everything today. I will report back how I went.

Ok So I before I reinstalled Zorin I did the following

1) Updated BIOS
2) Followed the instructions about "Fast Boot" and "Secure Boot"

Then I reinstalled Zorin Os by formatting the ENTIRE hard drive

After I got up and running I still got that Network notification so checked all the settings in BIOS and disabled the network boot option just in case

I then entered in terminal the following:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall network-manager

But still I got the notification.

So I switched off one of the notifications so that it stops popping up.

win some, loose some right? I am happy enough
