Install "ndiswrapper and the gui package and use the "Windows driver CD" for your wireless drivers, you need to select the "inf" file and load it with "Windows Wireless Drivers" prog!!.

i have a dell 1545 using broadcom wireless i get this error Driver Activated Not Currently In Use ......the driver is Linux STA driver it was installed in the driver manager i tried also the B43 driver Through synaptic package manager this also did not work ..... one strange thing though i inserted a netgear wireless dongle which was picked up instantly by the above drivers in the driver manager it stated that Driver Activated and Currently In Use the driver the driver in use was Linux STA driver
but when i removed the netgear dongle my laptop broadcom took over and stayed working which i thought was great till i rebooted and lost the wifi
i need this driver to work so any help will be much appreciated

NB: i also tried the ndiswrapper way it said the hardware was there but did not enable wifi i used xp and vista drivers

i also tried

In the Terminal type:
sudo apt-get update
- to update your repositories and tell you system where to get the driver from.

sudo apt-get --reinstall install bcmwl-kernel-source
- to install the driver.
this did not work either

i have been using Zorin 3 on my Acer for over a year with no errors or breakdowns and have been converting windows users to Zorin and any problems installing to any machine i have found the answers in ubuntu forums
