Zorin 5 live

Are there any workarounds for Intel ICH5? Every Ubuntu 11.04 variant I've tried seems to turn on compiz by default. Sometimes I've been able to logout and turn it off, but it did not seem to take in Zorin5. Any boot options to turn it off? Bob Eiser

Try logging out and entering "live" as the username, press enter and on the bottom panel in the login screen there should be a session option. Select "GNOME Session (No Effects)" and press enter (with no password) and log in.

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply! That is what I tried, but when it came back up it seemed the same. I will try it again. I think my best fix would be to buy an AGP card, but alas, I am a cheapskate. Bob Eiser

I downloaded the new version of Zorin OS 5 32 bit. I got the same sum on both Windows and K3B, which is: 16E9AA0D0BF3AC94331C32A3315EE728 . Is this correct? Also, I found out how to kill Xorg from hacktolive of Super OS and now I can reach a normal desktop. Bob

Yes to me it looks like your MD5 sum matches what Swarfendor has :) (You're right swarfendor, I don't think the capitals matter).

Hi swarfendor - yes I have been away for a bit due to sudden work commitments (blegh...) but now I am here again. I will check my inbox too.

Thanks for the link too, it will be handy to have that info :)
