Kia ora from nz! I've always wanted to use linux, and this one looks awesome... problem is I thought I knew what i was in for and now that i've replaced windows with zorin 5 i think i may be over my head... do i need to know coding to install things like libusb or usb_modeswitch?

Primary goal for this q is that I have a 2degrees (NZ) usb modem (HUAWEI MMC) that I want to connect to the internet but at the mo I'm being told it's a storage device. I've downloaded libusb and the 3 usb modeswitch files, think I've installed them, and read all the read mes etc and also http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/#download but can't figure it out...

Sorry - these are probably really basic questions, and I may be asking a few more too...

Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam,

as Zorin is an Ubuntu based OS you should try to stick to docs from the Ubuntu family so to speak, look here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Mobil ... sBroadband

to start with, then if you need further help; try the main forum which has many How-To's etc:

http://ubuntuforums.org/

That said, maybe someone else on this forum has an idea or two for you!!.

Hope this helps you further.
