Folks, I have been Zorin promoter since , I believe, version 3.

I discovered, Dropbox Applet (icon or indicator) is not working at all in Zorin 12 Light. :(

Please help!

(Please make Dropbox a part of Zorin 12!)

I'm afraid Zorin is not the issue but Dropbox and the distros THEY support!

Zorin 12 Lite is based on Xubuntu/

If the indicator is broken in the notification/clock area, which I suspect it is because same happened to me then this might help.
I've been playing with dropbox on Z12 Lite over the last few days and have this work around.

Go to Menu>Settings>Session and Startup then choose Application Autostart tab at the top.
Find the Dropbox entry and click on it then click remove at the bottom. The old command is something like "dropbox start -i" from memory.
Click Add, Name it Dropbox, Description=file sharing or what ever you like, command, this is the key so copy and paste the line below:

Code:
dbus-launch dropbox start

Click OK and then Log out or restart your computer

Zorin 12.1 Lite, Thunar File Manager open on Dropbox with Session and Dropbox startup command creation. Notice Icon in tray and Notification on screen.

Thanks MUCH, BMz10!

It worked!

Comment:

I simply edited existing Drobox entry, without creting a new one.

;-)

If it is so simple, why Respected Zorin Team will not make it a part of the package with the edited line? :o

I think you will find when you restart your computer that the line of text in the start up item for Dropbox will regenerate it's self back to how it was to begin with so may need to remove the original Dropbox item and add a new one as described.

I also made a 5 min video of this on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag849lN ... e=youtu.be

I think this is an issue with the XFCE desktop environment and NOT specific to Zorin 12 Lite.
let us know.

Indeed, you are right.

The link re-generated itself to the short version, but the applet STAYS ;-)

Some more proper terminology from Dropbox people:

Dropbox icon to access the Dropbox desktop application menu

What is a system tray or menu bar?

In our help center, we refer to the the bars along the top or bottom of your computer screen as the system tray (Windows/Linux) or menu bar (Mac). Your system tray or menu bar contains the Dropbox icon, which is where you access Dropbox settings.

The location of your system tray depends on your Linux installation. The system tray in Ubuntu, for example, appears at the top of the screen and looks like this:
